This is a licensed <strong>sampling system<\/strong> that is used, for example, for <strong>particle measurements of dust fractions<\/strong> of <strong>A-dust<\/strong> or <strong>E-dust<\/strong> <strong>at the workplace <\/strong>in order to determine the <strong>dust load <\/strong>there.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Measuring <strong>dust exposure at the workplace<\/strong> is always useful when <strong>occupational limit values<\/strong> must be complied with.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If there is <strong>exposure to dust<\/strong> at the workplace, it is the <strong>employer&#8217;s duty<\/strong> to protect their employees in the best possible way. This is done via the <strong>safety measures<\/strong> documented in the <strong>risk assessment<\/strong>. <strong>Particle measurements<\/strong> can be used to check the safety concept and optimize it if necessary.    <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How the cyclone works in the measuring device FSP2<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When <strong>measuring dust<\/strong>, the<strong> cyclone<\/strong> integrated in the <strong>GSA measuring device FSP2 <\/strong>separates the <strong>dust into individual fractions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A <strong>cyclone<\/strong>, or<strong> centrifugal separator<\/strong>, is generally used to <strong>separate <\/strong> <strong>solids from gases<\/strong>. The <strong>mixture <\/strong>(e.g. the dust-laden ambient air) is fed tangentially into the upper part and set in rotation by its own flow. The special design of the cone becomes narrower towards the bottom, so that the movement becomes faster and faster. The <strong>centrifugal forces<\/strong> acting in this way press the<strong> dust particles<\/strong> against the cone walls and slow them down so much that they sink to the bottom. The now <strong>purified gas <\/strong>flows downwards through the dip tube in the middle of the cone.      <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Particle measurements of dust fractions at the workplace &#8211; how can dust be differentiated by particle size?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Dust<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Dust <\/strong>describes the finest particles dispersed in the air that are set in motion by turbulence.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A distinction is made between dust fractions such as <strong>A-dust and E-dust<\/strong>. However, the outdated terms <strong>fine dust <\/strong><strong>(A-dust<\/strong>) and <strong>total dust<\/strong><strong>(E-dust<\/strong>) are still commonly used. They differ in their <strong>particle size<\/strong>, which is described by means of <strong>aerodynamic diameter<\/strong>.    <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A-dust<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With a <strong>diameter of up to 10\u00b5m <\/strong>, the <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">A-dust<\/span><\/strong> fraction is <strong>alveolar<\/strong>, which means that the <strong>dust particles<\/strong> can penetrate into the <strong>alveoli<\/strong>. There they can cause severe irritation and inflammation of the lung tissue.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>E-dust<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>E-dust<\/strong> fraction describes the <strong>&#8220;larger&#8221; particles<\/strong> that can be inhaled but only reach the<strong> upper respiratory tract<\/strong>. However, this does not mean that the hazard is less.
