Once it is in the home, you want to get rid of it quickly. These networks spread out in a circle and can release further spores into the environment at their ends. The mold spores are inhaled and can cause <strong>irritation<\/strong> in the <strong>respiratory tract<\/strong> and even <strong>chronic asthma<\/strong>. Some molds produce toxins that can trigger infections (mycosis) in (weakened) people. In general, prolonged exposure should be avoided.   <br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How does mold develop?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Mold spores are omnipresent in the ambient air. For visible damage to occur, a number of factors must interact. These include temperature, humidity and (lack of) ventilation.<br>A temperature between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius is ideal for the spread of mold in the home. This corresponds to the usual room temperature in apartments. In addition, a high level of humidity is necessary, which can be caused by structural defects (e.g. condensation) or moisture damage (e.g. water ingress through leaking\/defective pipes).<strong> Molds <\/strong>prefer<strong> organic materials such as wood, insulating materials or lime <\/strong>as a breeding ground. As it was left untreated for some time, black wreaths of mold developed. The pencil marks show the enlargement of the water ingress.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this case, all <strong>relevant<em> factors<\/em> <\/strong>are <strong>present<\/strong>: <strong><em>Breeding ground, moisture (water ingress from the bathroom) and temperature (heating air).<\/em> <\/strong>The visible outgrowths were removed with a special mold remover and a ventilation unit was provided for drying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Initially, there was an improvement, as the ventilation prevented the temperature from rising and the moisture was removed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignnone wp-image-1685 size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.gsa-messgeraete.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/9-nach-trockenzeit-22-11-2019-komp-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1685\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.gsa-messgeraete.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/9-nach-trockenzeit-22-11-2019-komp-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blog.gsa-messgeraete.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/9-nach-trockenzeit-22-11-2019-komp-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.gsa-messgeraete.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/9-nach-trockenzeit-22-11-2019-komp-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">(Apparent) improvement through drying<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>However, this was only symptom control, as only one side was dried, namely only from the affected apartment, but not in the upper apartment with the damaged area. In addition, the damage was not completely repaired, so that further water ingress occurred. As soon as the manual ventilation\/drying was interrupted, new water damage soon appeared.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignnone wp-image-1686 size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.gsa-messgeraete.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/10-verlaufsbild-schaden-nicht-behoben-30-11-2019-komp-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1686\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.gsa-messgeraete.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/10-verlaufsbild-schaden-nicht-behoben-30-11-2019-komp-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blog.gsa-messgeraete.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/10-verlaufsbild-schaden-nicht-behoben-30-11-2019-komp-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.gsa-messgeraete.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/10-verlaufsbild-schaden-nicht-behoben-30-11-2019-komp-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Renewed water ingress<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This case clearly shows that mold infestation should not be viewed selectively.
