This puts the spotlight on an issue that is becoming increasingly important in many companies. The aim of World Day 2026 is to highlight the extent to which <em>stress<\/em>, <em>excessive demands<\/em> and <em>conflicts<\/em> can have a negative impact on everyday life and to draw attention to why preventative support is so important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Since 2003, the ILO has been using the <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.gsa-messgeraete.de\/en\/world-day-for-safety-and-health-at-the-workplace\/\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.gsa-messgeraete.de\/en\/world-day-for-safety-and-health-at-the-workplace\/\">World Day for Safety and Health at the Workplace<\/a> to draw attention to safe and healthy working conditions worldwide. Each year, the <em>focus is on a different topic<\/em> to help companies further develop their <em>safety and health culture<\/em>. <br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Motto of the World Day 2026: Focus on psychosocial working conditions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The <em><strong>psychosocial working environment<\/strong> <\/em>is characterized by many factors &#8211; such as clear structures, appropriate work volumes, good cooperation, support from managers and clear processes. If these areas do not function well, this can affect the <em>health and performance<\/em> <em>of employees<\/em>. Stress, exhaustion or burnout are common consequences, which can also have an impact on <em>occupational safety<\/em>.  <br><br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Modern working world &#8211; many challenges<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The <em>modern world of work <\/em>brings additional <em>challenges<\/em>: <strong><em>digitalization<\/em>, <em>new working models<\/em> and <em>increasing time pressure<\/em><\/strong> are putting more strain on many employees. The growing <em>psychological and mental stress<\/em> has become a health risk. For example, increasing stress can also lead to long-term serious illnesses such as burnout. Trade unions, such as ver.di, point out that <em>psychosocial risks<\/em> are now among the <em>most common hazards<\/em> and must be given greater consideration in <em>risk assessments<\/em>.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Social and psychological factors at the workplace are often underestimated. However, the stress to which employees are exposed endangers both their health and their safety. <br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Typical stress factors<\/em>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Working pressure<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lack of support<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Conflicts at the workplace  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Unclear roles and responsibilities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Such stress can lead to <em>errors,<\/em> <em>loss of concentration<\/em> and <em>health problems<\/em>, for example. In the long term, they can even lead to serious illnesses. It is therefore important to recognize warning signs early in order to reduce the risks. If they persist over a longer period of time, the risk of serious illness increases.    <br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Impetus for the safety culture in companies<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>World<\/em> <em>Safety <\/em> <em>Day 2026<\/em> offers <em>companies<\/em> the opportunity to<em> review<\/em> and further develop their <em>safety culture<\/em>. Important <em>starting points <\/em>are: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Systematically record psychosocial risks: Employee surveys, transparent communication, risk assessments<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Using findings from research and practice: Prevention of stress, shift planning, ergonomic design of workplaces, digital occupational health and safety<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Qualification of managers: appreciative and supportive leadership<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Actively involving employees: more prevention possible<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Designing digital processes securely: Seizing opportunities and recognizing risks earlier.<br><br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Occupational safety &#8211; use of GSA measuring devices<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The use of <em>GSA measuring devices<\/em> can be useful to ensure that legal <em>occupational health and safety requirements<\/em> are met.
